Event Description
Two courses are on offer: a regular novice orienteering course for newcomers and younger folk, and a THOMASS score-O variant (see below for details).
SCHEDULE
Registration opens at 6:00pm, Course closure is at 8:30pm.Two courses are being offered this evening.A straightforward novice course for newcomers and families with younger children. The second course is called a THOMASS event which is a Score O with a twist.A handicap system is used to "even the field" so that all ages can compete on the same course. Depending on your age and gender you must punch between 1 - 7 controls within a marked area on the map. Information about the format will be shared at 6:30 pm. Participants may start at any time but there will be a Mass start at 6:45 pm for those who want to add a bit more fun to the course. The race starts as a usual line O course. Everyone has the same first 2 controls. After that, you enter "the box". Within this area, which is marked on your map, there are 8 controls. For anyone who has a handicap of 3 or more controls, an added challenge is that after every two controls punched in "the box", you must punch a central control before collecting the next two controls. This means that the central control is punched more than once. After collecting the required number of controls in "the box" everyone leaves that area and finishes the last few controls on the course.
