Yukon Orienteering Team
Great maps, fabulous terrain and wealth of experience and knowledge mean that the Yukon is home to both past and current National Team orienteers, stars of the future and Canadian age group champions.
The Yukon Orienteering Team consists of 4 different squads: yellow, orange, red and blue. The Yukon Orienteering Team adheres to the principles of the Long Term Athlete Development model. The aims, schedule and details of each group are outlined below.

2011 Yukon Orienteering Team Groups
Yellow Group
The Yellow Group is designed for 10-13 year olds with limited or no experience. The goals of this group are to learn the basic skills of orienteering so that they can complete a beginner course. Although entry to our local meets is included in the fees, the emphasis is on fun and participation.

Orange Group
The Orange Group is for 13-15 year olds who can run an intermediate course. The focus of this group is on training and practicing to improve. There is still a large emphasis on learning skills.

Red Group
The Red Group is for advanced level orienteers aged 15-20. The focus of this group is on competing. The upper end of this group is training to win and includes members of Canada's National Team and High Performance Program. There will be an emphasis on both physical and technical training.

Blue Group
The Blue Group is for adults running their age category at competitions such as Canadian Championships. This group is run together with the Red Group with basically the same focus. This group may also include participants who are not focused on competing but enjoy the technical challenge of advanced orienteering. Details are the same as the Red Group above.
